2024 Annual Meeting:
The FCW 2024 annual meeting was held on Wednesday August 21 at the Chatham Beach and Tennis Club. The meeting was well-attended and it was a beautiful late summer evening. After the business meeting, the FCW president, Kristin Andres, gave a brief year in review, citing accomplishments in past months and projects currently underway for the coming year. As a special invited guest and past FCW scholarship awardee, we welcomed Owen Nichols, Director of Marine Fisheries Research for the Center for Coastal Studies, who spoke briefly about his squid research—and we want to hear more at a future date! As keynote speaker, Chatham’s Natural Resources Director, Greg Berman, gave a talk covering the numerous studies and research taking place in Chatham around our salt marshes, eelgrass, shifting sands, and more. At the end of the evening, FCW honored Frank Messina with the Captain’s Award. Thank you to Chatham Light Liquors for donating our beverages and for the gracious staff and good eats that made the evening most enjoyable!
